 Vacancy – Funeral & Memorial Arranger


Type:               Permanent, 2 days a week

Location:         Tunbridge Wells 

Salary:             In region of £8,400-£9,200pa depending on experience


A leading independent family run funeral service company has a vacancy for someone with a can-do attitude & a positive outlook.

As a funeral & memorial arranger you will be arranging both funerals and memorials. The role is a job share covering the office 2 days per week plus holiday cover and an overnight on-call phone rota. The days of work are Thursday & Friday, 9am to 5pm, unless the job share partner can vary their days.

The role is varied, office based and requires someone who is personable and empathetic, with has good organisational skills, an easy-going personality and an understanding of bereavement. You will be dealing with the public both in person, on the phone & online.

Job Description

  • Taking initial calls from bereaved families and guiding them through the process at a difficult time. 
  • Understanding the families’ requirements and arranging the funeral from start to finish. 
  • Liaising with all external suppliers to ensure crematoria/cemeteries, church, floral tributes, ministers/clergy etc are all arranged and confirmed for the funeral service.
  • Assisting families while they are at our branch and escorting them to the chapel of rest. 
  • Completing all the administrative tasks needed for a funeral.
  • Completing all relevant paperwork and documentation correctly and in a timely manner. 
  • Partaking in the on call out of hours phone rota.
  • Covering your job share partner’s holiday. 

No previous funeral experience is necessary as training ‘on the job’ is given and study toward the Certificate in Funeral Arranging & Administration is supported and encouraged. Good literacy & numeracy skills are required along with familiarity of working with a PC and Microsoft Office.

Out of Hours Removals (On call) & daytime funeral chauffeur/bearing

Type:          Casual, out of hours on call (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) & day time funerals.

Location:    West Kent & SE London

A leading independent family run funeral service company has a vacancy for someone with a can-do attitude & possess a positive outlook.

The role is varied, mainly unskilled manual work, so physical fitness is essential. The successful candidate must be reliable, presentable and personable. A clean driving licence is essential whilst numeracy, literacy and some knowledge of IT is also required. Training is on the job.

Job Description

  • Out of hours removals on a two week on two week off stand-by rota.
  • Funeral bearing - carrying the coffins on funerals at crematoria & cemeteries. 
  • Driving hearse & limousine on funerals.


This position is offered on the basis of a zero hour contract or a limited hours fixed contract. Experience is preferred but is not essential as getting the right person for the role is all important given that you will be the ‘face of the business.’
