Do I Need To Be a Church Goer To Be Buried in a Churchyard or Can Anyone Be Buried in a Churchyard?
The question is, do I need to be a churchgoer to be buried in a churchyard? The short answer to that is no. I’m Simon Welham, I’m the owner and managing director of Welham Jones Funerals and Memorials. And the reason for the answer is that anyone is entitled to be buried in a churchyard as long as it is in your local parochial churchyard.
Whether you are Anglican, Catholic, Muslim, secular, you have a right to be buried there. The difficulty is often people confuse the need for the service in church with buried in the churchyard. They are actually separate items. But if you don’t have a service in church, you can have a service at the graveside. So, just remember that anyone can be buried in a churchyard.
And that is often where a churchyard is open in your parish. The cheapest way, the lowest cost way of having a funeral.

What people would like to happen at their own funerals
by Rebecca Welham
How would you like your life to be commemorated? A recent survey suggests that, while some traditional funeral elements remain evergreen choices, some contemporary ideas are gaining definite ground among those thinking about their own funerals.Â
With the average funeral in the UK now costing just under £5,000, it’s very common to have concerns about how you can ensure that your estate will be able to cover the costs of your funeral, or how to manage the costs if you have to arrange a funeral for a loved one. We guide you through the different options to ensure the costs of your funeral will be covered, as well as ways to create a fitting tribute to your loved one without breaking the bank.
What to do if you think your wishes for your funeral won’t be respected
by Simon Welham
While some of us don’t want to give any thought to our own funerals, others have a very clear idea of how we would like to be commemorated when our time comes. If you know what kind of funeral you would like, can you ensure that your wishes will be upheld? You may be surprised by the answer.
