At Welham Jones Funeral Directors, supporting our local communities in West Kent and Southeast London is at the heart of everything we do. This Christmas, we’re once again spreading festive cheer through our annual chocolate appeal: collecting sweet treats for local children who might otherwise go without. If you’d like to get involved, here’s how you can support our branches across West Kent and Southeast London.
For many families, Christmas is a time of joy and togetherness. But for others, it can be a time of struggle. According to Action for Children, one in three children fear that one of their friends or classmates will not have a “merry Christmas” this year. The Settled at Christmas report by Become Charity highlights the burden of vulnerability that children in care face during the festive season, often feeling isolated at a time when most families are celebrating together.
The rising cost of living continues to make things harder for local households too. In December 2023, Slough Foodbank reported distributing 1,217 emergency food parcels and 370 Christmas hampers; a stark reminder that the need for community support has never been greater.
At Welham Jones, our family-run team believes in doing what we can to make a difference. Every year, our Christmas appeal brings together local residents, businesses and schools to help brighten the season for children who might otherwise miss out. This year, we’re asking for donations of chocolate selection boxes to be gifted to children in hospitals and hospices and through local food banks.
If you’d like to support our Christmas chocolate appeal, simply bring a box of chocolates into any one of our branches by 12 December 2025. Find us at:
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference to a child’s Christmas.
At Welham Jones, we’re proud to be part of the communities we serve — and our Christmas chocolate appeal is just one of the ways we aim to share kindness and connection during the festive season.
